Bariloche activities & facilities

Snowmobiling and Snowcat Tours
Both the Catedral and Piedras Blancas resorts offers snowmobile tours through the mountains and Catedral also offers Snowcat tours for a more relaxing way to enjoy the beautiful Nahuel Huapi National park.  Travel Tip – Don’t miss this unique experience.

Colonia Suiza Weekend Feria
Colonia Suiza feria plaza comes alive every Sunday from 11 a.m. till sunset with artists from around the area trying to sale their goods. There are around 30 booths, each having its own original piece of handy craft. Travel Tip – Bring Cash.

Ruta de los Siete Lagos
The Ruta de los Siete Lagos, or “Seven Lakes Route,” is the more common name given to the famous provincial Route 234 in the Neuquén Province, one of the most spectacularly scenic stretches of road in the Lake District, if not all of South America. The forested valleys of both Nahuel Huapi and Lanín National Parks are found along the narrow winding road which takes you to secluded sparkly pools and waterways which connect Bariloche to San Martín de los Andes to the North, passing through the upmarket town of Villa la Angostura and several tinier Patagonian lake villages along the way.  Travel Tip – Rent a car and enjoy at your own pace.  This road is partially paved and beautiful!

Fishing
Enjoy fantastic fishing late into April with Bariloche’s plentiful waters. Many organized lake and fly-fishing trips are available; knowledgeable guides guarantee a good catch.   Travel Tip – Hire a guide

Punto Panamericano
Punto Panorámico is one location that anyone visiting Bariloche must see at least once. This magnificent view is spectacular. It looks over lakes Moreno Oeste and Nahuel Huapi, Llao Llao Hotel, the Andes and towards Chile. It is truly a special spot. It can be a bit touristy, though. There is usually a line-up of local artisans selling their wares, sometimes including a choripan (chorizo hot dog) stand and St. Bernard photo op. During the day buses of tourists are brought to enjoy the scenery but they tend to clear out before sunset.  Travel Tip – Crowds thin out before sunset.
