Termas de Chillan, Chile
The resort of Termas began as a summer retreat where guests enjoyed thermal pools fed by natural hot springs. While the thermals are just as relaxing today as in the resort's beginning, winter is now the preferred time to visit. The Chillan Volcano towers over the resort and is blanketed in snow from June to October. Its southern location has earned a reputation for some of the best quality snow in South America. Travelers arrive via train, bus or by driving from the city of Santiago (travel time approximately 6.5 hours).
Termas de Chillan has a reputation for its incredible skiable landscape. Expert skiers will enjoy the steep bowls and chutes off the Don Otto lift the longest double chair in South America. More adventurous skiers can hike the peaks above the resort or go heli-skiing throughout Termas de Chillan s 2500 skiable back country terrain.
If you are snowboarder, you find South America's first snowboard park, complete with half pipe, quarter pipe, fun boxes and an array of jumps. For an incomparable cross-country experience, Termas has a professionally groomed Nordic Trail system that lets you wind your way along gentle slopes through enchanted snow-covered forests
